Reflecting back on the characters within the animation, the studio realised there wasn't enough diversity within the hair colours, making each character less distinct and unique. To combat this, the studio suggested changing Penny's hair colour to more of a ginger tone, as this would complement the green within her outfit, while also helping her stand out from the other girls.
Shannon experimented with changing Penny's hair colour, testing different shades of ginger. The studio decided to go with the deeper richer red toned ginger, as this is much more vibrant and noticeable.
