Collaboration: Character Design Part 1

Below are the different character designs produced by Olivia and Shannon. The characters have been drawn on top of the Maya model of Moom.

These first initial designs for Victoria were made by Shannon. Victoria was designed around the ‘prim and proper’ stereotype - she walks with a confidence that some could argue to be arrogance as well as being relatively uptight. She's also very stringent on table manners and a massive germaphobe.

The initial designs of Cici were created by Olivia. Olivia began to experiment with the idea of Cici being a blind character prompted by the 'cool shades' idea. Her newer look is instead inspired by the idea of her not being able to tell what she's wearing, and the 'uncontrollable hair' stereotype enhanced by this.

For the first designs of Penny, Shannon created these different looks. Penny was designed to play on the 'happy-go-lucky' stereotype. She has an overall jolly demeanour, though she does get quite bashful at times. She's also somewhat superstitious.

These designs of Lucky were also created by Shannon. Lucky is a hopeless romantic type and is intent on searching for someone that he can find a true connection with. Lucky tries hard to impress his dates but is so clumsy that he almost always messes it up somehow.

For Skye, Olivia wanted someone who would be the 'odd one out' in a more visual sense. This would be done by exaggerating the character's height, and, as such, would come to be an overarching influence on her personality traits.
